Morton Arboretum

Upon my return to Chicago, Esteban and I planned many outings for ourselves. One day we visited the Morton Arboretum on the rolling Valparaiso moraine and bisected by the East Branch of the DuPage River of Illinois. We spent much of our time walking through the "woodsy woods" and we saw many different species of trees from Elm trees to Shrubs from China!

"The Morton Arboretum is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to the planting and conservation of trees. The Morton Arboretum's living collections represent one of the most comprehensive collections of woody plants in North America. Throughout the Arboretum's history, it has acquired plants from more than 40 countries in the northern temperate zone of the world. The collections today include 4,050 different kinds of plants, represented by more than 182,000 individuals arranged according to five groups: taxonomic collections, geographic collections, special habitats, horticultural collections, and collections of rare and endangered plants."

In the summer heat both Esteban, the trees, and myself were blessed with the sprinkle of rain towards the latter part of our day.
